I’ve always wanted to be an author, but for the longest time, the idea of writing an entire book felt impossible. That changed in my late twenties, when a birthday gift—Jen Sincero’s You Are a Badass—finally gave me the confidence to try. At twenty-eight, I finished my first manuscript, and through the Twitter pitching event PitMad, I secured a traditional publishing deal.
My debut novel, The Guidal: Discovering Puracordis, plunges readers into a near-future UK where societal worth is measured in time. At its heart is a sixteen-year-old girl raised in a harsh institute, struggling to overcome her oppressive upbringing. Her journey is tinged with mystery, identity, and a secret that could get her killed. It’s a blend of dystopian intrigue, teen angst, and rebellious hope—an emotional rollercoaster that was inspired by a dream.
The series has grown beyond its original trilogy plan, now stretching to four books. The final instalment will conclude the series in 2025. Writing hasn’t just given me a creative outlet; it’s given me a sense of purpose and a way to connect with readers who crave stories about strength in the face of oppression.
